Face transplant involves the replacement of part or all the face of a person using cadaver tissue(cadaver tissue is a tissue removed from a dead person).Face transplant goes through a specialised medical procedure with the involvement of medical experts.This is not a common procedure that can be done anywhere in the world,few countries have been able to do face transplant successfully and the first country to do it is France in 2005,it was actually a partial face transplant.But in 2010,the first full face transplant was completed in Spain.

According to research ,the statistics of countries who have made a giant step in face transplant all over the world and also leading in terms of numbers of face transplant done are United States, Spain,France  and Turkey.

Apart from face transplant ,there is also what is called facial reconstruction which can also serve as an alternative to face transplant, in this case ,skin of the same patient is moved from their back,buttocks, thigh,chest or any other part of the body to their face,this normally involves series of operations that can be up to 50 before this medical procedure is complete, the disadvantage of this procedure is that it mostly result to less functionality unlike that of face transplant.
