HOW TO STAY SAFE AND AVOID INJURIES WHILE PLAYING SOCCER

   
Soccer is one of the games that everyone all over the universe is familiar with and most popular game,every male child even sometimes female grows up playing soccer from a tender age as early as 2years.

Soccer is a household game. Most male children if left unguided, they will tend to prefer playing football than their academics probably for the fun they derive in it.If you ask some ,they will tell you they want to become a footballer,little wonder the world is crazy about soccer and it's the only game that I have found that most of the time unite everybody both old and young,black and white etc.

Why is safety very important in playing soccer?


With all that have been said about soccer,it comes with a lot of challenges for those that actually play it both at the professional level ,local level or even domestic level.Many children have been injured while playing soccer ,some are left with permanent damage to their body expecially arms and legs, at the professional level ,some have ended their careers as professional footballer because of permanent injuries sustained on the field of play while some could not even perform very well as they used to be because of injury.

   Some of the common injuries in playing soccer are;

* Ankle sprains
* Hamstring or calf strains
* Groin injuries
* Shin splints
* Knee injuries including ACL tears
* Concussions
*Tendonitis as a result of overuse(playing too much)
* Growth plate or stress fractures  (playing too much)

And the most common among these injuries is ankle sprains.

With these challenges that come with playing soccer,there is a need to know what are the things that can be done to prevent this,hence the importance of safety tips for playing soccer cannot be down played both for professionals and even for ourselves who play for leasure or for our kids.

  THESE ARE THE AMAZING SOCCER SAFETY TIPS FOR YOU

1) Ensure to use soccer shoe with cleats and cleats should either a molded type or ribbed soles.Try as much as possible to avoid shoes with screw-in cleat ,it may easily cause you to get injured you can use them when you need extra traction such as when you are playing on a field that is wet probably after a rain had fallen or you are playing on field with tall grasses.Also ensure that the cleats are tightly fitted to your shoe and your shoe is well laced before starting to play.

2) Don't forget or be in haste to jump on the field of playing without putting on your shin guard,it protects you from lower leg injuries.A good shin guard should mold to the shin and just below the knee and it must fit tightly around your ankle bone.
Always ensure you take your shin guard with you whenever you want to buy new socks to ensure it will fit properly.

3) Put on your socks always with your shin guard tightly fitted.

4) Mouth-guards are recommended for use whenever you want to play soccer ,it will protect your mouth,teeth,lips .I know some of us don't take this very important, there are occasions where footballer lost their teeth due to injury sustained on the field of play. For goalies ,never forget your hand gloves, your padded long sleeve shirts ,shorts or pants to protect you from halting yourself as you try to stop a shot.

5) Before you enter into the field ,expecially the professional footballers ,few months to the start of the season ,you will need to begin to prepare yourself by regular exercise everyday ,eat healthy and right diet that won't make you become obese but fit, this will help you to be in shape ready for the season.

6) Before you enter the field ,remember to search through out the field for any object  such as broken bottles, nails,metal and sharp objects that can be injurious to you and remove them from the field.

7) Ensure to warm up your muscles and then stretch them before playing soccer. You can do jumping jacks ,run for few minutes and get your muscles set for stretching.

8) Also ,ensure to check whether the two goal post area  safe,and the posts are strongly anchored to the ground with the post well padded to minimise injury that can occur when a goalie or player collide with it.
